The Mud started his radio career in Cleveland at the tender age of 17 while still going to Beachwood High Schoowhere he graduated in 1973. WLYT in Cleveland Heights was The Mud’s first stop on his long trek in the radio business.
After attending Ohio University for three quarters The Mud came home to Cleveland to pursue his radio career back at WLYT where he eventually became Program Director for Disco 92.
M105 came next for The Mud where he worked from 1976 to 1978. During his stay at M105 The Mud was known for his on and off air antics with his listeners including his protest of the high price of coffee when he became the “Human Tea Bag” and in the middle of winter jumped (or attempted to ) into a frozen Lake Erie.
After M105, The Mud moved on to live in Pittsburgh and put 3WS on the air. It was a hard time for The Mud as he did not like living in Pittsburgh because of the Steelers and what they represented. After a year The Mud could not take living in Pittsburgh anymore and decided to move back to Cleveland so he could be with his beloved Cleveland Browns and a chance to work at 1220 WGAR where he did afternoons.
At this time The Mud was reading about the untapped life that could be led living in Alaska. Thinking that he needed a rest from the broadcast business The Mud then decided to move his family up to Anchorage, Alaska where he became a tuna fisherman working for Star Kist tuna. This was quite an adventure for The Mud as he never had a strenuous job in his life and working on the tuna boats included long days and nights cooking for the crew and gutting the catch every day. After three years of living in Alaska, The Mud then moved his family to Ft. Myers, Florida to defrost and enjoy the warmth and sunshine.
The Mud then went back into the radio business working in cities like Raleigh, Buffalo, Seattle, Dallas, and Fresno.
After 6 years in the cell phone industry where The Mud worked for AT&T Wireless and Nextel Communications he decided to come back home to Cleveland to be near his family and friends and work for the greatest of all stations anywhere in the world, WNCX.
“This is a dream come true for me” said The Mud, “To be able to work with Kim and Mike and have the chance to not only wake up North East Ohio every day but to also play the music of my life is the best job in the world”
The Mud is married to Seattle native Tami and has 2 children, Jeramy age 27 who is chief editor for KMGH TV in Denver, and Robert age 26 who is a producer for “Good Day Tampa” at WTVT in Tampa Bay.
